News this week ......

To all members of the community who have known for many years about the “moving” wall in the West End Hall, I would like to put your minds at ease.  The issue is being addressed.  The structural engineer was called and he is sending specifications to our local builder to correct the situation after which he will sign off on it. Taking into consideration health and safety regulations and insurance issues, the hall will be closed until the repair work is finished.  I regret any inconvenience this might cause, but I am sure that you will rest easier knowing that it will be safe for the children and any others using it.

Thank you  to all those who helped and contributed to the Storm Festival Dinner. Without you it wouldn’t have been a success.  The numbers were down but everyone was very satisfied with the meal and program.  Check out our website, castlegregorykerry.com, to see all the contributors.  A special thanks to our Transition Year Students, David, Jack, Gearoid, Owen, Gearoid and Adam for being our waiters.

Get out! ...Get active! 6 Weeks Walking Course in conjunction with Operation Transformation. Two walks each week: Tuesday @ 10.30am and Thursday @ 6.30pm.  Meeting point for both walks Spar car park.  Come along.... Suitable for everyone.  For more information please contact Debbie: 087 2989537

Soccer:
Fixture: Castle are away V Mastergeeha B on Sunday morning at 11:30am
Result: Castlegregory Celtic FC 4-5 Killarney Athletic B. Castle faced a much changed Killarney Athletic B from the team we played earlier this season on Sunday in what turned out to be a goalfest which resulted in Castle losing at home for the first time in over 3 years!
Castle hit their straps early and the pressure paid off as Brandon Hoare hit the net from close range. However, Killarney really began to show the gulf in class of some of their experienced A team players as they moved through the gears to score 3 unanswered goals. Castle kept themselves in touch with a second goal for the home side from Steve Speirs but Killarney scored again to lead 4-2 before Maurice Slattery scored his first of 2 today to leave the score at 4-3 to Killarney Athletic B at HT.
In the second half Castle changed tactics slightly and it paid immediate dividends with a period of sustained pressure which resulted in a penalty which was both won and scored by Maurice Slattery.
Then a needless red card for Castle and a goal quickly after for the away side saw the match slip away from Castle, despite creating a number of chances. Overall, a good goalscoring performance by the home side but we were unfortunate to encounter a very changed Killarney side and the chance to move top of the league evaded us.
Scorers: Brandon Hoare, Steve Speirs, Maurice Slattery (MOTM) X2
Assists: Micheál O Dowd, Alan McNamara.
Team: Dillon Daniels, Dylan Hoare, Conor Boden, Enda Whelan, Damien McMahon, Steve Speirs, Alan McNamara, Maurice Slattery, Damien Finn, Brandon Hoare, Micheál O Dowd. Subs: Conor Shannon, Dara Butler, Tomas Butler, Cormac Cronin, Conor Hayes, Conor O Brien, David o Brien.
